It is in great working condition and when turned on, a red colour shows through the knots in the wood. The middle of the stem has a ships wheel and there are two original art paintings, one on each side which are covered with glass. I think these are accented with real butterfly wings. The shade is a solid piece of wood and the base is a solid piece
