Late 19th Century Imari plate Maps & Diagrams by Jean Paul Tremblay pages cleanLate 19th Century Imari plate. 8 1 2" wide. This plat is odd. It is asymmetrical and features lions. Mammals are not common in Imari paint schemes. There is some evidence of the new style (that becomes fashion in the 20th Century) and this mixes with the old style. Obviously the painter was having some fun experimenting with ideas. The light blue color is also unusual.
