Comparison of cigarette smokingrelated variables and alcohol use between co-consumers and cigarette-only smokers by depressive symptom status As shown in Table 3, respondents with depressive symptoms (co-consumers and cigarette-only smokers) had higher rates of perceiving themselves as being very addicted to cigarettes, reported having strong urges to smoke and had made an attempt to quit smoking in the last 24 months (as well as multiple attempts to quit), whereas co-consumers and cigarette-only smokers without depressive symptoms were similar on most measures (there were no significant differences between these 2 groups)
