BRITISH WWI ROYAL NAVAL VOLUNTEER RESERVE LONDON CAP TALLY possibly 56A rare naval cap tally worn by the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve London Division circa 1914. Full length gold wire lettering on black silk ribbon. The RNVR was mobilised at the beginning of WWI and those not required for sea service were converted into infantry soldiers as part of the Royal Naval Division to help relieve pressure on regular infantry. The Division was formed from three naval brigades who were soon sent to support the Belgium Army in
